Micro Needling Pre Appt Instructions

A Microneeding Facial delivers BIG results, it resurfaces skin with acne scarring…stimulates collagen to plump fine lines. The tiny injuries from the micro needling pen heal forcing the production of collagen and elastin. You WILL see results after one treatment however in order to get the best results let’s set you up for success prior to the appt. Here’s what you need to know:

  • a week prior stop using retinals, AHA’s, BHA’s, scrubs and masks

  • no ibuprofen, motrin or advil 3 days before appt

  • avoid IPL laser, unprotected skin exposure or sun burn 2 weeks prior to the appt

  • if you get cold sores, take your cold sore medication 2 days BEFORE the appt to stop the risk of the micro needling stirring an outbreak

Ok so that is everything you need to know PRIOR, here is what you need to know for the DAY OF the service:

  • the service will take about 45 to 50 mins

  • a topical lidocaine will be applied to the skin to keep you comfortable for the service, the freezing will last a few hours so parts of your face will feel numb - that will wear off

  • we can’t stress this enough: DO NOT MAKE PLANS that involve wearing make up for 2 days after your appt. Your skin is raw and fresh, putting anything on the skin other than what we have instructed you to use will result in irritation and possibly even worse.

  • please do not use your phone while we are performing the service, moving your face while we are using a device with needles is just not safe

The service is done, we will provide you a little kit with Hylaronic Acid in it as well as the soft sponge we used on you. Here’s what you need to do for the first 24 hrs:

  • no make up, no strenous activity that causes redness to the face,.

  • no water - do not wash your face. The only thing you will be putting on your skin is the Hylaroinc Acid we have provided you - that is why we give it you because that is all we want you to use

  • no saunas, swimming, steamrooms etc

  • again do not make plans where you will have to put on make up

After 48 hrs you can get your face wet and use a very mild cleanser however you still only use the Hyaluronic Acid we have provided you - do not use any of your skin care routine until after 48 hrs.

Here’s what to expect Day 1 to Day 3 after treatment:

  • you might be puffy or swollen

  • you won’t experience pain however it might feel like a sunburn

  • there might be a small amount of bruising on certain areas

  • again do not use anything other than the Hylaronic Acid we have provided you

Here’s what to expect Day 4 to Day 7 after Treatment:

  • the swelling and puffiness will be almost gone if not all the way gone

  • flaking and peeling will begin as the skin works to repair itself - DO NOT PICK, the skin will fall off on it’s own

  • you can go back to your regular skin care routine however stay away from scrubs, retinols. AHA or BHA’s.

we recommend a microneedling facial every 6 to 8 weeks if you are looking to improve scarring 3 to 5 treatments should take care of the any scarring. If you doing micro needling to improve collagen and elastin production we suggest every 3 months with one of the Glow Facials in between.
